Split

Hi all, thanks for visiting this site. I've only been able to get around 10 hits a day and I want to improve that. I think the problem is the focus of this blog, people either care about Magic or Programming, not both. I plan to split this blog into two separate blogs that are more focused on that specific subject area. I welcome any comments on this subject, --Forge

Personally, I would like it if you discussed the mechanics behind and the development of MTG Forge.

I am very interested in the direction you are taking with the project and the hurdles you must overcome to program something as complicated as a MTG AI.

Cheers!

I have to agree, I am interested in the programming behind a Magic Gathering game. The AI for this game would be extremely challenging if someone really focused on making the computer opponent a multi-skilled player. Wanting to expand the programming skills with an extremely complex game feeds two enjoyments (development and the game) as well as keeps the mind in shape.

So if I am understand the comments, people are interested in the programming behind MTG Forge. So less Magic and more programming.

The development of MTG Forge was to do whatever works and don't worry about stuff you can't do now, like Glorious Anthem was programmed late in the project. I plan to re-launch this blog with the focus of talking about the development of MTG Forge and how it implements cards and the AI.

The AI is very, very dumb, it just randomly plays a card, but some intelligence is built into every card, so the computer seems half-way smart.

But with more sharing of knowledge about programing and the AI and the program might become even better!

While I am more interested in just general Magic conversation I am not against reading about programming MTG Forge. So to me a split doesn't seem to be a necessity. :)

Well I like writing about both Magic and MTG Forge so this blog will continue to do both. Hopefully I won't alienate the non-programmer crowd. Thanks for the comments.
